biography
I live in Canada. Just starting out with lyric writing. I am finding some great inspiration with alot of the fantastic music on this site. I am not talented at singing or instruments unfortunately. I am always looking for someone in need of a few good words. If you have some great music and just need some words let me know! Other than that, I am in the midst of writing a novel. It's more work than I thought!
Favorite Lyricist/Songwriter
Alot of songs can stand alone without words, like alot of music I hear here on the Amp. But, through our lives we tend to look forward to certain songs/performers. Maybe to sing along or just to listen to the words. But sometimes the words of a song just hit you, they mean something to you. There are many artists that have this knack for words.
The two that come to my mind when I think of great storytellers through lyrics are Willie Nelson and Paul Simon. I can't help but sing along with anything they write. They don't waste words to fill space, each words means something to them. These greats are my inspiration to get better at what I do.
Is there someone that inspires you? Who is your favorite songwriter/lyricist?thx

Princess Lynny
Princess Lynny
I met Lynny for the first time
Climbing from the moving van
Turned, smiled, caught my eye
I think she knew she made a fan
Just one look, seemed so shy
But with a wink, she turned and ran
I saved Lynny every day after three
She came over with her books
We'd just sit and watch T.V.
Trading glances, trading looks
But, she would cry when she had to leave
Why'd her dad have to be so mean?
Chorus:
We disappear, a world of our own
I'd be a prince, she's my Princess Lynny
So pretty, in her long white gown
Running free, living without worry
On my white horse we gallop around
Care free with my Princess Lynny
Buds are blooming, the seasons change
Every day, as our love grew stronger
It was harder for her to bear her pain
She couldn't hide her bruises any longer
I knew she would not ever be the same
My Princess Lynny, I could not save her
Alone again as three oclock rolls around
She has missed school two weeks straight
I look all over, she just can't be found
I sit under our tree, alone in the shade
At Lynny's house there's no sight no sound
I close my eyes, I just let it fade
Chorus:
We disappear, a world of our own
I'd be a prince, she's my Princess Lynny
So pretty, in her long white gown
Running free, living without worry
On my white horse we gallop around
Care free with my Princess Lynny
Sitting in the park, wasting the day
I open my eyes, vision clears, there I see
That bruised up girl reading, not feet away
Even so many years later, it was clear to me
As she looked up, smiled and winked her eye
Sitting there, book in hand, is my Princess Lynny
Chorus:
We disappear, a world of our own
I am a prince, she's my Princess Linny
So pretty, in her long white gown
Running free, living without worry
On my white horse we gallop around
Care free with my Princess Lynny

She's my Princess
And she's free.

Believe Me
Was for fun....hope you guys enjoy it......is meant to be upbeat
This is a play on bad liars :P
I don't believe you don't believe me
Look into my eyes can't you see
I swear every word I say is true
Why do you question everything I do?
Let me explain it all to you
cus I don't believe you don't believe me
Just hold on baby, hear me through
I had a doctors appointment
I was late and he called so i went
And he showed me the test
Six months to a year at the best
A rare disease I cant spell it now
A cure only a wise man would know
I made my mind and took a flight
Never thought I had fear of height
But I did, I grabbed a chute, I took the leap
My eylids froze of course at ten thousand feet
I didn't see exactly where I landed
I was lost alone, baby I was stranded
I don't believe you don't believe me
Look into my eyes can't you see
I swear every word I say is true
Why do you question everything I do?
Let me explain it all to you
cus I don't believe you don't believe me
Just hold on baby, hear me through
Hours later my body thawed
My eyes were opened, my mind was awed
Trees and plants of the greenest green
There were beasts that've never been seen
Magic vines lift me onto a winged stallion
He takes to the air his masters a'calling
Through the ravine we careened
Faster than light so it seemed
Through the trees, accross the divide
Past boulder, rock and mountain side
Up and up, higher and higher
We stop at the sign: Wise man for hire
I don't believe you don't believe me
Look into my eyes can't you see
I swear every word I say is true
Why do you question everything I do?
Let me explain it all to you
cus I don't believe you don't believe me
Just hold on baby, hear me through
I answered his riddles, followed the clues
He was a smart one I give him his dues
One last task, he gave to be done
Through the dragon a cure can be won
I draw the sword from the stone
It is me and the beast all alone
He blasted fire my hair is singed
His steely gaze leaves me unhinged
With a heave I draw my sword
I take a swing, I cut his cord
The last of his line I am sure
But alas I have found my cure
I don't believe you don't believe me
Look into my eyes can't you see
I swear every word I say is true
Why do you question everything I do?
Let me explain it all to you
cus I don't believe you don't believe me
Just hold on baby, hear me through
I took that piece of beast
It tasted bad to say the least
But I am here now safe and sound
Aren't you glad I am around?
But c'mon baby, don't be so rash
Thats why I forgot to take out the trash!

Thank You Santa
Edit*
This song is finished....different title than my first one though.
This one is not a normal Christmas song....In life I believe there are many many Santa Clauses. Not in the traditional sense of the word either. I mean the people who bring food to the poor at Christams, and all year round. I mean our firefighters and police...I mean anyone who makes a positive difference in someone's life, those who go that extra step. Anyways here it is:
Thank You Santa
Christmas time is here
Time to get together
With all your family near
And if you sent your letter
Santa will come tonight
But my grandma once said
Santa is around all year
He's not dressed all green and red
But Santa is always near
On this she was oh so right
Thank you Santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, you were there that night
Thank you santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, for saving my life
I woke up late one night
Smoke was everywhere
Flames are my only light
Choking, struggling for air
Quickly losing the fight
I hear my mommy call
I try but can't call back
I stumble and I fall
My eyes shut, it goes black
I know I've lost my fight
Thank you Santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, you were there that night
Thank you santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, for saving my life
The pressure on my face
Brings tears to my eyes
But for someones grace
I am still alive
I know it's alright
I never found out
That fireman's name
But without a doubt
With no glory, no fame
Santa was there that night
Thank you Santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, you were there that night
Thank you santa, whoever you are
Thank you Santa, for saving my life
Thank you Santa, for saving my life...

Paper plane
*Edited* Ralph was in mind when I wrote this one.
It was late nineteen fourtytwo
I was a boy of nearly eight
Outside waiting, nothing to do
The sun setting its getting late
My daddy will be coming home soon
My daddy will come home soon
I gathered up my paper plane
Mother calls me in from outside
As I run down the country lane
She's a letter clenched by her side
And she has wiped her tears away
But her swollen eyes cant hide
All the pain she bears on this day
Of a truth she must confide
Your daddy's not coming home son
Your daddy died last night
Your daddy's not coming home son
Your daddy died last night
And I grabbed the crumpled letter
I knew that it couldn't be true
But not knowing any better
And not knowing what to do
I yelled and screamed and I cried some
When is my daddy coming home
Did my dad stop loving us mum?
I just want him to come on home
Your daddy's not coming home son
Your daddy died last night
Your daddy's not coming home son
Your daddy died last night
Years later as I pack my bags
Hoping I can make things better
Then I see there beside my tags
That very same crumpled letter
I read the letter three times through
I fold it again and again
Each corner so clean and so true
I hand my son the paper plane
Your daddy is coming home son
Your daddy flies tonight
Your daddy is coming home son
Your daddy flies tonight
Your daddy is coming home son
Your daddy flies tonight
Your daddy is coming home son
Your daddy flies tonight
